Jannik Sinner Extends Lead Over Carlos Alcaraz in Big Titles Race After Wimbledon Win
Sinner's Wimbledon Victory Enhances Title Count
London [UK], July 13: Jannik Sinner, currently ranked World No. 1, has increased his lead over rival Carlos Alcaraz in the competition for prestigious titles by successfully defending his title at Wimbledon.
In the final match, Sinner triumphed over Alexander Zverev, marking his 17th significant title, which encompasses Grand Slam victories, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000, and Olympic singles gold medals. Alcaraz, on the other hand, has secured 15 significant titles, as reported by the ATP.
This latest win at Wimbledon also signifies Sinner's fifth Grand Slam title and his first major win since he claimed the All England Club title last year. Notably, all five of his Grand Slam victories have occurred since the beginning of the 2024 season.
The competition between Sinner and Alcaraz has seen a notable shift in recent months. Following Alcaraz's Australian Open victory earlier this year, he held a 15-11 advantage in significant titles.
However, Sinner has since taken control of the major ATP Tour events, clinching six out of the last seven significant title tournaments.
At just 24 years old, Sinner made history by being the first player to win the first five ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in a single season, securing titles in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, Madrid, and Rome. His win in Rome also completed the Career Golden Masters.
With his Wimbledon victory, Sinner has now achieved six significant titles in the 2026 season, equaling his career-best tally from 2024. There are still six significant title events left on this year's schedule.
Currently, Sinner has won a significant title every 4.2 tournaments, surpassing Roger Federer's record of one title every 4.4 events. Only Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Carlos Alcaraz have a better success rate in significant title competitions.
