Jacob Duffy Eager to Face Virat Kohli in Upcoming ODI Series
Excitement Builds for the ODI Series
Auckland [New Zealand], November 1: New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy is eagerly anticipating the chance to compete against his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate, Virat Kohli, in the upcoming five-match ODI series commencing on November 4. Duffy believes that after sharing the dressing room with Kohli, the seasoned player will be well-prepared for the challenges of the 50-over format.
The ODI series promises to bring a festive atmosphere to Indian cricket, especially with the return of two of the sport's most iconic figures, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. A notable matchup will be between Duffy and Kohli, both of whom played pivotal roles in RCB's consecutive Indian Premier League (IPL) victories this year.
Duffy's Impressions of Kohli
In a recent media session in Auckland, Duffy shared his thoughts, stating, "I saw him [Kohli] yesterday at the gym, and it was great to run into him there. He was very welcoming to me."
He highlighted Kohli's remarkable work ethic and his humble demeanor, despite being a revered figure in a cricket-obsessed country. Duffy also reminisced about their time practicing together, noting that they were often among the first to hit the nets.
Insights from Kohli
"For someone who is almost like a religious icon in India, it’s impressive how down-to-earth he is. He made all of us overseas players feel welcome at RCB, which I truly appreciate. Now, I’m excited to play against him after sharing a changing room," Duffy remarked.
"His work ethic is exceptional. I bowled to him frequently in the nets since he was always the first batter, and I was the first bowler. We spent considerable time facing each other, which is quite special. He has seen a lot of my bowling now, so he will be well-prepared," he added.
Learning from the Best
Reflecting on his interactions with Kohli, Duffy mentioned that they discussed Indian pitch conditions and how Kohli's insights were beneficial. "He shared valuable information about the different lines and lengths suited for various wickets and how I might need to adjust my game accordingly. Those insights were crucial," he explained.
