Ishan Kishan Sets Unfortunate Record in IPL Tosses

Ishan Kishan has made history in the IPL 2026 season by losing the toss in all six matches as captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. This unprecedented streak surpasses the previous record held by David Miller. Kishan's struggles continued during a recent match against Chennai Super Kings, where he was dismissed for a golden duck. If he loses the toss again in the upcoming game against Delhi Capitals, he will become the first SRH captain to lose seven tosses in a row. Explore the details of this remarkable yet unfortunate record.

Kishan's Toss Troubles Continue

During the IPL match on April 18, 2026, between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Ishan Kishan faced a challenging day. He lost the toss once again, with the Super Kings opting for SRH to bat first. Kishan, who had a disappointing outing, was dismissed for a golden duck by Mukesh Choudhary on the final ball of the powerplay. He came to the crease after a solid 75-run opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma and himself.

Kishan's Unfortunate Milestone

This season, Kishan has now lost the toss in all six matches played, forcing his team to bat first each time. The season began with a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), followed by a victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, they faced defeats against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) before finally securing a win against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

This is Kishan's inaugural season as captain in the IPL, having taken the reins during the match against RCB. His streak of losing the first six tosses is a record in IPL history, surpassing the previous mark held by David Miller, who lost five tosses while leading Kings XI Punjab in 2016. Kishan is now the second captain in SRH's history to experience six consecutive toss losses.

Most Consecutive Toss Losses by SRH Captains

Player Consecutive Tosses Lost Year
Ishan Kishan 6 2026
David Warner 6 2015
Kane Williamson 5 2019

If Kishan loses the toss again in the upcoming match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 21, he will become the first captain of SRH to lose seven consecutive tosses. The odds of a captain losing six tosses in a row are approximately 1.56%.
