Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan, currently representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026, was awarded a cheque of ₹1 crore by Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on May 15, 2026. This gesture was made in recognition of Kishan's significant contribution to the Indian team's triumph in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Kishan, who hails from Patna and has connections to Nawada district, met with the Chief Minister at his office, where he was greeted with a ceremonial stole and presented with a memento alongside the cheque.

In a social media post, Chief Minister Choudhary referred to Kishan as the 'son of Bihar.'
