Inter Milan Secures Serie A Championship

Milan [Italy], May 4: Inter Milan has officially been crowned the champions of the Serie A for the 2025-26 season, achieving this remarkable feat with three matches still to play. The title was secured following a decisive 2-0 victory against Parma at the iconic San Siro on Sunday.

The latest win confirmed Inter's dominance in the league, granting them an insurmountable lead at the top of the standings, far ahead of their nearest competitors.

This victory caps off a season marked by consistent performance, with the Milan club maintaining a strong grip on the title race throughout.

Marcus Thuram opened the scoring just before halftime with a well-placed angled shot that eluded Parma's goalkeeper, Zion Suzuki. Later, veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan added a second goal in the 80th minute, assisted by Serie A's top scorer, Lautaro Martinez, who made a comeback from injury.

With this triumph, Inter Milan has secured their 21st Serie A title, bouncing back after finishing as runners-up to Napoli last season, and ending an 11-year title drought the year prior. This victory solidifies their position as the second-most successful club in Serie A history, trailing only Juventus.

This title also represents a significant achievement for manager Cristian Chivu, who claimed his first major trophy since taking over in June 2025, succeeding Simone Inzaghi.

During the celebrations, midfielder Nicolo Barella reflected on his leadership role in the Italian national team, which faced disappointment by failing to qualify for a third consecutive FIFA World Cup. He stated, “That’s football and life. There are difficult moments. Last season, we came so close to everything and won nothing. In life, you’ve always got to get back up on your feet.”

With the championship secured, Inter Milan aims to finish the season on a high note, potentially rotating their squad in the upcoming matches. Meanwhile, attention will shift to the ongoing battles for European qualification and relegation as the Serie A season nears its conclusion.
