On September 30, former Indian shooter and Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra extended his congratulations to Neeru Dhanda and the women's 4x400m relay team for their remarkable gold medal victories at the Asian Games 2026. Bindra emphasized that their accomplishments could motivate young girls throughout India to engage in sports.

The women's 4x400m relay team, consisting of Kiran Pahal, Poovamma MR, Prachi Choudhary, and Vithya Ramraj, outperformed competitors from Bahrain and China to secure the gold medal in their event. Earlier that day, Neeru Dhanda made history by becoming the first Indian woman to earn an individual medal in women's trap shooting at the Asian Games, clinching gold.

In a post on X, Bindra praised both Dhanda and the relay team, referring to them as 'incredible women' and highlighting the significance of their achievements beyond mere medals. He noted that their success could inspire young girls across the nation to pursue sports and dream big. Bindra remarked that athletes often carry the aspirations of many, commending the duo for paving the way for future generations.

'Two wonderful golds for our women today: Neeru in the trap and our 4x400m relay team. Congratulations to these incredible women. Not just for winning but for what a day like today can set in motion. The women's 4x400m relay team made history by securing India's first athletics gold medal at the Games, finishing with a time of 3:29.69. Bahrain took home the silver medal, while China earned bronze.

Earlier, Neeru Dhanda achieved a historic milestone by winning gold in the women's trap event, scoring 28 out of 30 in the final. China's Sun Yunong secured silver with a score of 26, and UAE's Hajar Abdulmalik claimed bronze with 21 out of 25. Additionally, Neeru, alongside Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer, earned silver in the women's trap team event with a combined score of 328 points.
