India's Upcoming T20I Series Against Ireland: Squad and Plans
India's T20I Series Kickoff
The Indian cricket team is set to commence its next T20I series on June 24 in Belfast, facing Ireland in a two-match contest. As they prepare for a five-match series in England next month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a strong 15-member squad, featuring the remarkable 15-year-old talent, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He gained attention for his outstanding performance in the 2026 Indian Premier League, where he amassed 776 runs, earning the Orange Cap. Meanwhile, Lorcan Tucker has been appointed as the new T20I captain for Ireland, succeeding Paul Stirling, who resigned following a disappointing performance in the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup, where India secured their fifth title.
Travel and Training Plans
Team India's Belfast Plan
The Indian squad will arrive in Belfast in two groups. The first group, including players and support staff, will depart from Chennai, making their way through Dubai and Dublin before reaching Belfast by road. The second group is scheduled to leave Mumbai tomorrow, following the same route and expected to arrive in Belfast on the afternoon of June 24. Their initial training session is planned for June 25.
During their stay, the team will be located in the famous Titanic Quarter of Belfast, a site rich in history and a popular tourist attraction known globally as the birthplace of the RMS Titanic. This area has transformed into a vibrant destination while preserving its maritime heritage.
Injury Concerns Ahead of the Series
However, the Indian team faces challenges with injuries ahead of the Ireland series. Star spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out due to an injury, and reports indicate that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will also miss the two-match T20I series due to a left quadriceps injury.
