India's Esports Teams Set for BRICS Championship and Global Games

India's Esports Representation Announced

The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) revealed the final teams representing India at the upcoming BRICS Esports Championship 2026 in Moscow and the Global Esports Games (GEG26) in Los Angeles. This announcement came after the conclusion of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2026 on August 5.

The NESC served as the official selection event, showcasing the nation's top esports talent competing for a chance to represent India at these prestigious global tournaments.

For the BRICS Esports Championship, taking place from September 9 to September 15 at the VK Play Arena in Moscow, India will send a two-member team for TEKKEN 8. National champion Arsalan Wani secured his spot by winning the NESC BRICS qualifier, joining Gurashish Singh, who triumphed at the NESC 2026 (Asian Games).

Shubham and Ashish finished as first and second runners-up, respectively, in the qualifier.

In addition, Team India has finalized its lineup for the Global Esports Games 2026 in Los Angeles, organized by the Global Esports Federation (GEF). The team will compete in various esports titles across PC, console, and mobile platforms, enhancing India's visibility in the global esports arena.

Lokesh Suji, Hon. Gen Secretary of ESFI and Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), emphasized the significance of these competitions for Indian athletes, stating that they provide essential exposure and experience, crucial for their development ahead of the Asian Games.

At the Global Esports Games, India will participate in Counter-Strike 2, with Diamond Dogs earning the national spot after defeating Friedup Gaming in the Grand Final. The team includes Ritesh Sarda (Captain), Hrishikesh Shenoy, Gourav Panwar, Garvit Nehra, and Yash Kumar Singh.

In Clash Royale (Open), Devershi Kumar Kulhara claimed the championship, followed by Heer Chawda and Mohamed Rizal S. Shagun Srivastava won the Women's category, finishing ahead of Nikita S.

India's NBA 2K team will consist of Shubham Sharma (Captain), Ashutosh Kumar, and Sumer Singh Sandhu, while the Rocket League squad includes Abhai Ponna (Captain), Jayanth Engineer, and Aditeya Amol Srivastav.

In iRacing featuring Ferrari, Yashwanth Babu led the standings, followed by Aditya Iyer and Ankit Raj.

Chinmay Sahoo secured the Open category slot for eFootball, having won the NESC 2026 (Asian Games).

In line with regulatory compliance, ESFI confirmed that India will not participate in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) due to directives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
