This match not only highlighted India's resilience but also set the stage for an exciting finish to the series. Discover how India's bowlers turned the tide in this crucial encounter.

India's Resilient Bowling Performance

In a remarkable display of bowling, India made a strong comeback led by Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav, limiting South Africa to a total of 270 runs in the decisive third ODI on Saturday. Quinton de Kock's impressive 23rd century, scoring 106 runs off 89 balls, was a highlight for the visitors.

After winning the toss, India opted to field first, a decision influenced by the anticipated dew conditions. This marked a significant change after a streak of 20 consecutive incorrect calls on the coin toss.

Arshdeep Singh made an early breakthrough by dismissing Ryan Rickelton, but de Kock quickly established dominance, forming a solid partnership of 113 runs with captain Temba Bavuma, who contributed 48 runs off 67 balls.

De Kock was particularly aggressive against Prasidh, who struggled with his length early on, allowing the left-handed batsman to score heavily, including 18 runs in one over.

While de Kock was assertive, Bavuma played a more measured innings, accumulating runs through careful placements and occasional drives.

De Kock reached his half-century in just 42 balls and maintained the momentum, completing his century in 79 deliveries. India's bowlers found a brief respite when Ravindra Jadeja caught Bavuma off a false shot.

The South African innings gained further momentum with a 54-run partnership between de Kock and Matthew Breetzke, putting them in a strong position at 168 for two after 28 overs.

However, Breetzke's aggressive batting against part-time spinner Tilak Varma prompted Indian captain KL Rahul to reintroduce Prasidh into the attack.

This strategic move proved to be pivotal, as Prasidh dismantled South Africa's top and middle order during a brilliant second spell, taking three wickets for just 11 runs.

He first trapped Breetzke lbw, followed by Aiden Markram's dismissal, who was caught by Virat Kohli. Prasidh then bowled de Kock, leaving South Africa reeling at 199 for five after losing three wickets in quick succession.

With the top order dismantled, Kuldeep Yadav stepped in to clean up the tail, finishing with figures of 4 for 41, ensuring South Africa fell short of a competitive total on the pitch.
