Indian Women's Netball Team Completes Successful Training Camp Ahead of Asian Championship
Successful Conclusion of the National Coaching Camp
The Indian Women’s Netball team wrapped up its national coaching camp on Monday at the Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BPSMV) sports complex in Khanpur Kalan.
This month-long training session, held from July 2 to August 3, was aimed at preparing the team for the upcoming 14th Asian Women’s Netball Championship 2026, set to take place in Hong Kong from August 8 to 15.
Throughout the rigorous camp, players engaged in advanced technical drills and competitive practices under the supervision of skilled coaches. A total of 21 athletes participated, from which the final squad of 12 was chosen.
Team Composition and Leadership
The finalized team includes twelve players, a head coach, an assistant coach, and a team manager. Varsha has been named the captain, while Lakshmi will take on the role of vice-captain.
The selected players are Varsha (Captain), Lakshmi (Vice-Captain), Megha, Aishwarya, Sonam, Vidhi, Palak, Rajinder Kaur, Manmeet, Aswathy, Mahima Beniwal, and Nirmal Kaur. The coaching team consists of Head Coach B Vikram Aditya Reddy, Assistant Coach Sharayu Jagtap, and Team Manager Surendra Singh.
Recognition and Support from the University
Following the camp's successful conclusion, Registrar Professor Shivalik Yadav extended his congratulations to the Indian Women’s Netball Team, coaching staff, and all selected players. He expressed pride in the university being chosen as the training venue for the Asian Championship preparations, stating, “We are confident that the team will perform exceptionally in Hong Kong and bring honor to the nation. On behalf of the entire University family, I wish them success and a bright future.”
The university administration also expressed gratitude to the Netball Federation of India, the coaching staff, players, and all individuals involved in organizing the coaching camp. Notable attendees at the closing ceremony included Dr. Babita, Director of Sports, and Dr. Sanjeet Malik, Sports In-charge.
