Railways Recognizes Cricketers' Achievements

New Delhi, December 1: The Ministry of Railways has granted out-of-turn promotions to Sneh Rana, Pratika Rawal, and Renuka Singh Thakur, who served as OSD (Sports), in acknowledgment of their exceptional roles in India's success at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Railways, these three athletes will receive the salary and benefits associated with a Group 'B' Gazetted Officer, classified under Level-8 of the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. This initiative by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) aims to provide financial stability while also assigning them administrative duties.

In November, the trio was honored at Rail Bhawan by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways.

Pratika Rawal, an opening batter from Delhi, has been elevated to the Group 'B' Gazetted position of OSD (Sports) due to her significant contributions to India's World Cup-winning efforts.

Renuka Singh Thakur, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, has also been promoted to the Group 'B' Gazetted role of OSD (Sports), recognized for her ability to deliver match-winning performances during critical matches.

Sneh Rana, an all-rounder hailing from Uttarakhand, has similarly been promoted to the Group 'B' Gazetted position of OSD (Sports), noted for her impactful contributions with both bat and ball.

Indian Railways has a rich history of nurturing and promoting sports talent, with its athletes frequently representing India on international platforms.
