Indian Men's Skeet Team Celebrates Bronze at Asian Games 2026
Proud Moments for Indian Skeet Shooters
Members of the Indian men's skeet team, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill, and Mairaj Ahmad Khan, shared their joy after clinching bronze medals at the Asian Games 2026. They expressed that the experience of standing on the podium with the national flag was incredibly special, highlighting the shooting team's impressive performance at the event.
The trio achieved bronze in the men's skeet team event, finishing with a total score of 346. Qatar secured the gold medal with 353 points, while Kuwait took home the silver with 348 points.
Anantjeet also earned an additional bronze in the mixed team skeet event alongside Parinaaz Dhaliwal, finishing behind gold medalists China and silver medalists South Korea.
In an interview, Anantjeet remarked that winning two medals for India was a significant accomplishment and praised the overall success of the Indian shooting team.
"Bringing back two medals for your country is always a great feeling. I also won two medals in China last time, so I'm thrilled to repeat that success," he stated.
He emphasized that the shooting team met expectations by securing multiple medals, expressing satisfaction with their performance and determination to continue excelling.
"We anticipated a strong medal haul from our team, and we delivered. More medals are on the horizon. We performed exceptionally well and fought hard until the end. It's always gratifying to return with two medals," he added.
Bhavtegh shared that witnessing the Indian flag rise while standing on the podium with his teammates was a moment of immense pride, affirming that the shooting team would maintain its momentum at the Asian Games.
"Seeing the flag raised and standing on the podium with my teammates while wearing the India flag is the ultimate feeling. It fills you with pride to represent your country. We have achieved a lot at the Asian Games so far, and there are more events ahead where we aim to win even more medals," he said.
Mairaj Ahmad Khan expressed his pride in winning a medal for India and remains focused on achieving greater success at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"I am thrilled to have won this medal for my country. My sights are set on Los Angeles. Standing on the podium with the national flag raised is a prestigious feeling that gives me goosebumps. I hope that next time, the national anthem will play, and I will aim for a different medal color. Jai Hind," he stated.
To date, India has secured 23 medals at the Asian Games, including two gold, nine silver, and twelve bronze, with ten of those medals coming from shooting.
