Indian Duo Advances to Quarter-Finals in Teqball Mixed Doubles at Asian Games

India's Success in Teqball Mixed Doubles

Nagoya, Japan - On September 18, India's Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza and Mohamed Anas Imran Beg have successfully reached the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles event at the 2026 Asian Games teqball tournament, finishing third in Group A at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.

The Indian pair faced a tough preliminary round-robin phase, achieving two wins and two losses in their four group matches. Their spot in the quarter-finals was confirmed with a decisive victory over Kuwait in their last match.

Dsouza and Beg kicked off their campaign with a solid performance, defeating the Philippines' Abuencia Jhoana and Agustin Prince with a score of 2–0, marking a perfect start to their Group A journey.

However, their second match was a fierce battle. They narrowly lost 1–2 to Cambodia's Bun Thuonvireak and Yorn Sophornraksmy in a tightly contested three-set match.

The challenges continued in their third group match, where they fell 0–2 to Thailand's Dejaroen Phakpong and Wongkhamchan Suphawadi.

With their qualification on the line in the final group match, Dsouza and Beg delivered an impressive performance against Kuwait's Alebraheem Salman and Alfailakawi Hessah.

From the start, India dominated the match, winning the first set 12–1 and sealing the match with a 12–6 victory in the second set.

This win brought their record to 2–2, securing third place in Group A and a spot in the quarter-finals, where they will compete against Vietnam.

This qualification keeps India's hopes for a medal alive in the teqball mixed doubles event.

Additionally, Dsouza's advancement in the tournament has bolstered India's presence in the knockout rounds, as she has also reached the semi-finals in women's singles.

As they prepare for the quarter-finals, Dsouza and Beg aim to capitalize on their strong performance in the final group stage and continue India's quest for a podium finish in Nagoya.
