Indian Team's Arrival in Colombo

On Tuesday, the Indian cricket squad, captained by Shubman Gill, arrived in Colombo to prepare for two Test matches against Sri Lanka, but they did so without top-order batsman B Sai Sudharsan.

Currently, Sudharsan is undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), where he is being closely monitored by medical personnel.

The team is set to engage in a three-day warm-up match starting August 7 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club in Colombo, prior to heading to Galle for the first Test scheduled for August 15.

A source familiar with the situation mentioned, 'Sudharsan is actively training at the CoE, spending over an hour batting in the nets as he recovers from a toe injury. His condition will be evaluated over the next three to four days before a decision on his availability is made.'

The injury occurred during the recent India A tour in Sri Lanka.

The source added, 'It is crucial that he achieves full fitness before making his return to international play. We want to avoid a repeat of the situation where Harshit Rana faced setbacks shortly after his comeback to competitive cricket.'

The second Test is set to take place in Colombo on August 23, and the medical team is optimistic that the left-handed batsman will be able to rejoin the squad, as he has begun batting in the nets at the CoE.
