Tashkent [Uzbekistan], May 10: The Indian boys showcased an impressive performance during the semifinals of the Asian Boxing U15 Championships 2026, with six boxers making it to the finals and seven securing bronze medals in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
In the 33kg weight class, Yash Kumar achieved a commanding 5:0 victory over Kiyan Iqbal from the UAE, earning his spot in the finals. Sastha Vasanth Ashok Kumar (37kg) also advanced after a strong second-round win against Aziretali Sanzharbekov of Kyrgyzstan.
Samir Bohra, competing in the 43kg category, displayed remarkable skill, defeating Adizbek Ilkhombekov from Uzbekistan with a score of 4:1. Sudarsan Vasudeva Chandak (52kg) impressed fans with a decisive win in the first round against Amirmahdi Shad from Iran.
Mohd Yasser dominated the 58kg category, winning 5:0 against Seyyedariyamohammad Mousa of Iran. Ronak Parag Lokhande (67kg) completed the list of victories with a first-round win over Mukhammadali Berdikulov from Kyrgyzstan.
In other semifinal matches, Rohit Pothina (35kg) faced a setback, losing 0:5 to Zhaksylyk Yermekuly of Kazakhstan. Nitin (40kg) narrowly lost a close match 2:3 to Jasurbek Khayrullaev from Uzbekistan.
Nongpoknganba Meitei Oina (46kg) was edged out 2:3 by Mansur Abdukhamitov of Uzbekistan, while Parshant (49kg) suffered a 0:5 defeat against Sardor Omonboev from Uzbekistan.
In the 55kg category, Harshvardhan Jeena lost 0:5 to Nurislam Baktubayev of Kazakhstan, and Dev (64kg) was defeated 1:4 by Hyeonseok Yoo from Korea.
In the 70+kg category, Sushant Jayani was eliminated in the first round by Ibrokhim Mirzakarimov of Uzbekistan.
With seven bronze medals already in hand and six boxers reaching the finals, the Indian U-15 team is now focused on converting their strong performances into gold medals in the upcoming finals.
