Celebrating Indian Athletes' Achievements

In New Delhi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Indian athletes Dilip Mahadu Gavit, Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath, and Murali Sreeshankar for their outstanding performances at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026.


Through a post on X, the Vice President recognized Gavit for his gold medal victory and Morssinganakath for earning silver in the men's 100m T47 event. He also commended Sreeshankar for securing silver in the men's long jump.


The Vice President's post stated, "Heartiest congratulations to Dilip Mahadu Gavit on winning the Gold Medal, Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath on securing the Silver Medal in the Men’s 100m T47 event, and Murali Sreeshankar on clinching the Silver Medal in the Men’s Long Jump at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026."


He further praised India's overall performance, emphasizing the historic gold-silver finish in para athletics and Sreeshankar's achievement of winning consecutive Commonwealth silver medals.

On Day 7 of the Commonwealth Games 2026, India had a remarkable outing, securing three medals: one gold and two silver, along with the promise of at least six more medals in boxing.


Dilip Mahadu Gavit set a Games record with a time of 10.71 seconds to win gold in the men’s T47 100m, while Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath claimed silver, marking a one-two finish for India. Murali Sreeshankar also made history by becoming the first Indian male long jumper to win two Commonwealth Games medals with his silver.


Additionally, six Indian boxers, including Sakshi Choudhary, Jaismine Lamboria, Arundhati Choudhary, Sachin Siwach, Ankush Panghal, and Narender Berwal, advanced to the semifinals, ensuring at least six more medals for the country.


India also made strides in various athletics and lawn bowls events, while experiencing mixed results in swimming and para-athletics. By the end of Day 7, India had amassed a total of 15 medals, comprising three gold, nine silver, and three bronze.
