Indian Women's Doubles Triumph
In a remarkable display of skill, the Indian women's doubles team comprising Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade secured a dominant 3-0 victory against Iran during their second-round match at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday. They overwhelmed their Iranian opponents, Setayash Iloukhani and Mashid Ashtari, with a decisive score of 11-2, 11-2, 11-4.
Swimming and Canoe Sprint Updates
In swimming, Benediction Beniston finished fifth in the men's 50m butterfly heat, clocking in at 23.87 seconds, placing him 12th overall, just outside the top 10 needed for the finals. Meanwhile, in the women's canoe sprint 200m semifinal, Megha Pradeep finished fourth with a time of 51.093 seconds, missing out on a final spot as only the top three advanced.
Athletics Performance
In athletics, Anamika Aneesh Kozhinjaparambil placed fifth in her heat of the heptathlon 100m hurdles, achieving a time of 14.80 seconds for 868 points. Pooja also finished fifth in her heat, recording a time of 14.61 seconds, earning 894 points.
Wushu Success for Roshibina Devi
Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi claimed her second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games, narrowly losing to Zhang Xiaoyu of China in the women's sanda 60 kg final. Roshibina, who previously won a silver medal in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, lost both rounds with a score of 0-5, marking a significant achievement as she becomes the first Indian woman to earn three consecutive medals in Wushu at the Asian Games.
Rowing Achievements
Earlier, the duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan secured a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final, finishing with a time of 6:13.25. They were just 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists from China and 2.76 seconds behind the silver medalists. Despite maintaining a strong position throughout the race, they fell short in the final stretch.
Balraj Panwar's Near Miss
In the men's singles sculls, Balraj Panwar finished fourth after a strong start, holding second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks. However, he was overtaken in the final stretch, finishing with a time of 6:54.80, which was 15 seconds behind the gold medalist from China.

With these performances, India has now secured its 14th medal at the Asian Games, which includes one gold, six silvers, and seven bronze medals.
