India Shines with Silver in Mixed 4x400m Relay at Asian Games 2026

India's Stellar Performance in Athletics

On September 24, 2026, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya praised the remarkable efforts of M R Poovamma, Vithya Ramraj, Manu T S, and Vishal T K, as the Indian team secured a silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026.

The Indian team showcased an impressive performance, with Vithya Ramaraj delivering a powerful anchor leg that helped clinch second place.

The quartet of Manu T S, M R Poovamma, Vishal T K, and Vithya Ramraj finished the race in 3:14.46, earning the silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay final.

Bahrain took home the gold medal with a time of 3:12.87, while the bronze medal was awarded to the team that finished in 3:14.54. This achievement adds another athletics medal to India's tally at the continental event.

Mandaviya expressed his pride in a post on X, stating, "A brilliant performance by M R Poovamma, Vithya Ramraj, Manu T S & Vishal T K as Team India clinched Silver in the 4x400m Mixed Relay at #AsianGames2026!"

Seema Kumari's Bronze in Women's 10,000m

In addition to the relay team's success, Mandaviya congratulated Seema Kumari for her outstanding performance in the women's 10,000m event, where she earned a bronze medal.

He tweeted, "Seema Kumari delivers a brilliant performance to win BRONZE in the 10,000m at the #AsianGames2026! Heartiest congratulations to her."

Winfred Yavi of Bahrain won the gold medal with a time of 32:39.18, while Japan's Nozomi Tanaka secured silver in 32:41.54. Seema Kumari completed the race in 32:50.05, earning her place on the podium.
