India Shines at Global Skills Challenge 2026 with Five Medals

India's Triumph at the Global Skills Challenge

New Delhi, June 30: Team India showcased an impressive performance at the Global Skills Challenge (GSC) 2026 held in Australia, securing a total of five medals—three gold, one silver, and one bronze. This achievement marks a significant milestone as India prepares for the upcoming 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai later this year. The event, which took place from June 23 to 29, featured nearly 600 participants, including competitors, experts, translators, and officials from 16 WorldSkills member nations, with India competing alongside countries like Australia, Austria, China, the USA, Japan, France, and South Korea.


Pavan Bhadravati Suresha from Karnataka earned a gold medal in Additive Manufacturing, while Mausam Kumar Giri from Bihar took home gold in Cloud Computing. Vishnupriya Sunil from Delhi also won gold in Health and Social Care. Harsh Ramesh Pawar from Maharashtra secured a silver in 3D Digital Game Art, and Muskan from Haryana achieved bronze in Painting and Decorating.


These accomplishments highlight the increasing global competitiveness of India's skilled youth in various fields, including advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, creative industries, and service-sector skills.


Other participants also performed admirably across different categories, gaining essential international exposure and benchmarking their skills against some of the best young professionals worldwide.


Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, praised Team India's remarkable achievement, stating that their haul of three golds, a silver, and a bronze is a proud moment for the nation. He emphasized that this success reflects the talent, dedication, and hard work of the Skill Champions, mentors, and industry partners involved.


Chaudhary noted, “This competition has not only showcased our excellence but has also provided invaluable exposure to global standards, enhancing our preparations for the WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. I commend every member of Team India for inspiring a new generation of skilled youth.”


The Indian contingent, consisting of 30 members—15 competitors and 15 experts—represented the nation across 15 skill categories, including advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, construction trades, creative industries, and service-sector skills. The Global Skills Challenge was designed to simulate the WorldSkills Competition, allowing Team India to compete against some of the finest young skilled professionals under international standards and real-world conditions.


Throughout the event, participants were evaluated using the internationally recognized Competition Information System (CIS), mirroring the assessment framework utilized in WorldSkills competitions. This experience provided Indian competitors with practical skills in managing competition pressure, adapting to international equipment, and meeting global quality standards.


India competed in various skill categories, including 3D Digital Game Art, Additive Manufacturing, Automobile Technology, Beauty Therapy, Bricklaying, Cloud Computing, Floristry, Graphic Design Technology, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, Industrial Mechanics, Painting and Decorating, Restaurant Service, Wall and Floor Tiling, and Web Technologies.


Victories in competitions like the Global Skills Challenge 2026 play a crucial role in making skills aspirational for young Indians, demonstrating that excellence in trades, technology, design, and service-sector skills can lead to national recognition, global exposure, and promising careers.
