On September 26, India had a successful day at the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya, securing numerous medals in kabaddi, athletics, shooting, and squash, while also advancing to two finals in squash singles.
To date, India has amassed a total of 30 medals, which includes four gold, 12 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
In kabaddi, India achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold in both men's and women's categories, defeating Iran in the finals.
The men's team triumphed with a score of 40-34, while the women's team narrowly won 37-34, successfully defending their title.
This victory allowed India to maintain their dominance in women's kabaddi, marking their third gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Games.
During the men's final, despite Iran's efforts to regain control, Aslam Inamdar's two crucial points helped India secure their lead.
As the match concluded, Iran was unable to recover, resulting in India's 40-34 victory and an unbeaten campaign at the Asian Games.
In athletics, Tajinderpal Singh Toor earned a silver medal in the men's shot put, finishing behind Iran's Mohammadreza Tayebise, who set a Games Record with a throw of 20.81 meters. This silver adds to Toor's impressive Asian Games history, having previously won gold in Jakarta and Hangzhou.
Sawan Barwal also contributed to India's medal tally by winning silver in the men's marathon, clocking a national record time of 2:11:37.
Barwal's achievement marks a historic moment for India, ending a 44-year wait for a podium finish in the marathon event.
He finished second to Japan's Yamashita, who took gold after a strong finish.
In shooting, India secured a team silver in the women's 50m rifle 3P event, with Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen, and Vidarsa Vinod finishing with a combined score of 1763-90x, just behind China's gold medalists.

Squash results were mixed, with Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar winning bronze in mixed doubles after losing to Hong Kong's Tang Ming Hong and Lee Ka Yi in the semifinals.
However, India's singles players excelled, with Anahat Singh defeating Japan's Satomi Watanabe 3-2 in the women's singles semifinal to reach the final, and Abhay Singh winning against Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan 3-0 in the men's singles semifinal.
Anahat's match was a thrilling comeback; after trailing 0-2, she rallied to win the next three games, showcasing her resilience and skill.
