India Dominates with a Strong Batting Performance

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 9: Sanju Samson's explosive innings of 82 runs off just 41 balls, complemented by significant contributions from Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Tilak Varma, propelled India to a formidable total of 249/5 in the second T20I of the five-match series held at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Friday.

After winning the toss, West Indies captain Shai Hope chose to bowl first. However, India's batsmen launched an aggressive assault right from the beginning, maintaining a scoring rate of over 12 runs per over to conclude their innings at 249/5 after 20 overs.

India faced an early setback when opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed in the fourth over, scoring 20 runs off 12 balls. Despite this loss, Samson took control of the innings, aggressively targeting both pace and spin bowlers. He reached his half-century in a mere 21 balls and finished with 82 runs, hitting nine fours and four sixes.

Ishan Kishan continued the momentum, scoring 43 runs off 22 balls, which included six fours and two sixes. The partnership between Samson and Kishan yielded 97 runs off just 43 balls, allowing India to surpass the 100-run mark by the ninth over.

Roston Chase made a significant impact for West Indies by taking the wickets of Kishan and Shivam Dube, who managed only seven runs off 10 balls. Chase ended his spell with impressive figures of 3/24 in four overs.

Shamar Springer later dismissed Samson in the 15th over. Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer, who had scored a century in the previous match, and Tilak Varma maintained a brisk scoring rate.

The duo added 21 runs in the 18th over bowled by Springer, bringing India's score to 215/4. In the penultimate over, Shamar Joseph conceded 11 runs, but Varma unleashed a flurry of boundaries in the final over, hitting three consecutive sixes and accumulating 23 runs off it.

While Iyer was dismissed during this over, new batter Naman Dhir managed to hit a boundary off the last ball, concluding India's innings at 249/5. Apart from Roston Chase, Shamar Springer was the only other wicket-taker for West Indies, claiming two wickets but conceding 64 runs in his four overs.
