India's Upcoming T20 Series in Ireland

The current world champions, India, are scheduled to compete in two T20 International matches against Ireland on June 26 and June 28, as announced by the BCCI on Saturday. These matches will serve as a precursor to their white-ball series in England.

Both games will take place in Belfast, marking the Indian team's first visit to the city since 2007.

According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, “Team India (Senior Men) will head to Ireland for a two-match T20I series in June 2026.”

India has previously toured Ireland three times over the last eight years (2018, 2022, and 2023), and this upcoming tour will be their first return to Belfast since 2007.

This announcement follows a confirmation from Graham West, Ireland’s director of high performance, regarding the series, which coincides with Paul Stirling's recent decision to resign as T20I captain.

Before heading to Ireland, India will host Afghanistan for a one-off Test and a three-match ODI series concluding on June 20. Following that, they will travel to England for a series of five T20Is and three ODIs from July 1 to July 19.

India has drawn significant crowds during their previous tours to Ireland, particularly at Malahide, located on the outskirts of Dublin.

West mentioned that the series against India is part of their strategic plans for the upcoming summer. He stated, “With qualification secured for the T20 World Cup in 2028, Paul’s (Stirling) decision to step down as T20 captain provides the opportunity for the new captain to begin implementing their style and methodology, starting with the India series in June.”
