India Set to Begin T20I Series Against Ireland in Belfast
India's T20I Series Launch in Belfast
The T20I series between India and Ireland is set to commence on Friday in Belfast, marking the beginning of India's white-ball tour that includes three ODIs and seven T20Is scheduled from June 26 to July 19. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, the Indian team will face Ireland at the Civil Service Cricket Club Ground. Historically, India has dominated their T20I matches against Ireland, winning all eight encounters to date. In their last visit to Ireland in 2023, India secured a 2-0 series victory, with one match abandoned due to weather conditions.
However, Ireland faces significant challenges as key players such as Paul Stirling, Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and Curtis Campher are sidelined due to injuries. Lorcan Tucker, who has recently taken over as captain, will lead the Irish squad against the formidable Indian side.
India has also made adjustments to their lineup due to injuries, bringing in Prince Yadav and Suryansh Shedge to replace Varun Chakaravarthy and Nitish Reddy. A notable highlight of the match could be the debut of teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who plays for the Rajasthan Royals. If selected, he would make history by debuting in the opening T20I.
