India Secures Spot in VALORANT Esports Nations Cup 2026
India's VALORANT Team Qualifies for ENC 2026
Riyadh [Saudi Arabia], June 30: India has successfully qualified for the VALORANT main event at the Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026 after a commendable performance in the Asia regional qualifiers. The Indian team is among only two squads from the region to earn a spot in this prestigious global esports competition, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 2 to November 29.
The VALORANT segment of ENC 2026 will run from November 8 to November 15, featuring 32 teams vying for a prize pool of USD 1.5 million (approximately Rs 14 crore). Sixteen nations received direct invitations based on their ENC Rankings, which reflect their performances in official Riot Games tournaments. The remaining 14 spots were filled through regional online qualifiers across various regions, including Asia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, North America, South America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia and Oceania.
During the Asia regional qualifiers, nine teams competed in a double-elimination format. Matches leading up to the Upper Bracket (UB) Final and Lower Bracket (LB) Final were played as best-of-one, while both finals were contested as best-of-three.
India's roster, captained by in-game leader (IGL) Sagnik Roy (Hellf), included players Abhirup Choudhury (Lightningfast), Aman Yadav (Hoax), Venkatesh Sharma (Venky), and Daivik Chauhan (Dc), with Norbu Tsering (Karam1L) and Shravana Sahoo (Techno) as substitutes. The team was coached by Abhishek Bajaj (GodspeedxD), appointed by NODWIN Gaming, India's National Team Partner (NTP) for ENC 2026.
The campaign began with a commanding 13-2 win against Nepal in the UB quarterfinals, but the team faced a setback, losing 5-13 to Japan in the UB semifinals. However, demonstrating resilience, India bounced back by defeating Pakistan 13-9 in the LB quarterfinals and overcoming Mongolia 13-10 to secure a spot in the LB Final.
With their qualification at stake, India showcased their best performance against Hong Kong, winning the first map 13-10 and finishing the series with a 13-6 victory, thus securing a 2-0 win and their place at ENC 2026.
This qualification underscored the talent within the Indian team, particularly Venky, who led the qualifiers with an impressive 117 eliminations across six matches, the highest in the Asia regional qualifiers.
Over 100,000 fans tuned in to watch the Asia qualifier finals, witnessing Japan's undefeated streak and India's remarkable journey through the lower bracket.
Reflecting on the qualification, Sagnik Roy (Hellf) stated, “This qualification is significant for India's VALORANT scene. After our loss to Japan, we quickly focused on the next game. Every player rose to the occasion, and our composure under pressure was key to our turnaround. The growth of the game's ecosystem has fostered a pool of players ready to compete at the highest level, and this team exemplifies that progress. Every international opportunity propels the ecosystem forward and inspires future competitors. We are eager to compete at the inaugural Esports Nations Cup and aim to maximize this opportunity.”
The VALORANT segment at ENC 2026 will commence with all 32 qualified teams in a round-robin group stage, divided into four groups of eight teams. The top four teams from each group will advance to a 16-team single-elimination playoff bracket. Group stage matches will be best-of-one, while playoff matches (excluding the Grand Final) will be best-of-three, with the Grand Final played in a best-of-five format.
In addition to the 16 invited teams and 14 regional qualifiers, the United Arab Emirates has secured the Host Region Wildcard as the next highest-placing competitor from the GCC region. A Solidarity Wildcard slot remains available for an underrepresented region, which will be announced at the end of August after all ENC qualifiers are concluded.
VALORANT now joins Chess and Trackmania as the third title in which India will compete at the ENC 2026 main event. Grandmasters Nihal Sarin and Mitrabha Guha have already qualified for the Chess main event, while Trackmania player Kunal Upreti (Spark) has also secured his spot.
India's preparations for ENC 2026 continue across various titles, with the DOTA 2 team set to compete in regional qualifiers from June 30 to July 1, where two teams will qualify. The Rocket League team will compete from July 17 to July 19, with three teams from Asia advancing to the ENC 2026 Finals. Meanwhile, India's MOBA Legends: 5v5! team is still in contention for a direct invitation, with regional qualifiers scheduled for August 15 to 16 if necessary.
