India Secures Bronze in Women's 400m at Asian Games 2026

India's Athletics Achievements at Asian Games 2026

In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 26, India celebrated another success in athletics at the Asian Games 2026, with Prachi earning a bronze medal in the women's 400m final, finishing with a time of 53.21 seconds.


The gold medal was claimed by Bahrain's Salma Naser, who set a new Games Record with an impressive time of 49.20 seconds. Iran's Zahra Zarei Manoujan secured the silver medal, clocking in at 52.38 seconds. Indian athlete Kiran finished in fifth place with a time of 53.41 seconds.


In the men's 400m final, Vishal TK from India also finished fifth, recording a time of 45.48 seconds. The gold medal in this event went to Thailand's Joshua Atkinson, who completed the race in 44.90 seconds.


India faced disappointment in the women's 1500m final, where Parul Chaudhary and Pooja finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Parul achieved a personal best of 4:09.46, while Pooja finished in 4:16.78. Bahrain's Nelly Korir took home the gold with a Games Record time of 4:04.50.


In the men's triple jump final, Karthik Unnikrishnan from India placed sixth with a best jump of 16.02m. The gold medal was awarded to China's Wen Su, who set a Games Record with a jump of 17.42m. Japan's Manato Miyao earned silver with 16.77m, and China's Ma Yinglong secured bronze with a jump of 16.75m.


Additionally, India's Praveen Chithravel did not record a valid mark in his event.
