India's Spin Attack Overwhelms Pakistan

In a commanding performance, young spin duo Shree Charani and Prema Rawat dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup, leading India to a decisive seven-wicket victory in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 match on Saturday.

Harmanpreet Kaur, marking her milestone as the first international captain to lead in 150 T20Is, expressed her satisfaction as her spinners restricted Pakistan to a mere 55 runs in just 18.1 overs, which is their lowest score in T20 history.

Capping off the match, Harmanpreet struck a magnificent six to seal the win.

The Indian spin attack, featuring 22-year-old Charani (3 wickets for 7 runs in 4 overs), 24-year-old Prema (3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs), and part-time wrist spinner Shafali Verma (1 wicket for 10 runs in 3 overs), completely dismantled the Pakistani batting order.

Deepti Sharma also contributed with 2 wickets for just 5 runs in 3.1 overs, ensuring a swift conclusion to the innings.

Despite losing early wickets, India chased down the target in just 8.4 overs, with Harmanpreet (18 not out) and Deepti (12 not out) stabilizing the innings after a shaky start against Pakistan's captain Fatima Sana.

The Indian women's team anticipated some practice before the semi-finals, but the match turned out to be another one-sided affair, marking India's seventh victory over Pakistan in T20 Asia Cup history.

Pakistan began their innings with some confidence, reaching 27 without loss in just over four overs, thanks to openers Muneeba Ali (13) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (14). However, the rest of the batting lineup faltered, with no other player managing to score in double figures.

The wrist spinners, Shafali and Prema, maintained relentless pressure by targeting the stumps, leading to a collapse in the Pakistani batting order.

In total, Indian bowlers delivered an impressive 78 dot balls in their 18.1 overs.

Once Harmanpreet recognized the pitch's turn, she quickly brought in the spinners, resulting in Pakistan losing six wickets for just nine runs, leaving them at a dismal 36 for 6 after ten overs.

Muneeba attempted to create space by shuffling towards leg stump but was ultimately outsmarted.

Charani showcased her skills by extracting both turn and bounce, leading to crucial wickets, including that of Gull Feroza (0) and Zulfiqar, who was trapped lbw.

Ayesha Zafar (2) fell victim to a catch at mid-on, while Sadaf Shamas (3) was bowled by Prema's straight delivery.

Pakistan's captain Fatima Sana (0) was dismissed by a classic off-break from Deepti, while Eyman Fatima (5) and Umm-e Hani (6) were involved in a disastrous run-out.

Hani also succumbed to a sweep attempt, marking the end of a contest that was effectively over before India even batted.
