India Triumphs in Junior Asia Cup Final

On Sunday, India showcased their dominance by successfully defending their title in the men’s Junior Asia Cup, defeating Korea with a score of 4-1 in Moqi, China. This victory not only secured the championship but also guaranteed their participation in the upcoming World Cup.

With this win, India has now claimed the continental title for an impressive sixth time.

The previous victories were recorded in 2004, 2008, 2015, 2023, and 2024, further solidifying India's status as the most successful team in the tournament's history.

Ajeet Yadav opened the scoring for India in the 9th minute with a deflected shot. Captain Anmol Ekka quickly followed suit, doubling the lead in the 13th minute.

Although Korea earned a penalty corner towards the end of the first quarter, India's defense held strong, thwarting their attempts. In the 21st minute, Prabhdeep Singh scored India's third goal with a brilliant finish, extending their lead.

Korea attempted to mount a comeback, but India's defense remained organized and resilient, allowing them to head into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

The final quarter began with India maintaining their aggressive approach, earning a penalty corner. Despite Korea's efforts to defend against multiple shots, India was awarded another penalty corner after a failed referral by Korea.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ashu Maurya scored in the 50th minute, pushing India's lead to 4-0.

Korea was awarded a penalty stroke due to a foul, which Captain Lee Minhyeok successfully converted in the 54th minute, bringing the score to 4-1.

In recognition of their remarkable achievement, Hockey India announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh for each player and Rs 1.5 lakh for every member of the support staff.
