India A Penalized for On-Field Errors

In a recent match, the umpires imposed a 10-run penalty on the India A cricket team due to repeated infractions on the field. The decision came after Vipraj Nigam received a warning for running on the protected area of the pitch for the second time during the 37th over. As a result, the team’s score was reduced by 10 runs. Despite this setback, Nigam, who is part of the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, managed to score 51 runs off 49 balls, helping India A reach a total of 265 all out. Suryansh Shedge also contributed significantly with a score of 72 runs from 66 balls.

Interestingly, Sri Lanka A also faced a deduction of five runs during the innings. This occurred when wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella failed to catch a ball, which subsequently struck his helmet placed behind him. According to ICC regulations, the fielding side is penalized when the ball makes contact with a helmet on the field.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Early Exit

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struggled to make a significant impact once again, scoring just 21 runs off 14 balls. He played aggressively with a strike rate of 150, hitting three fours and a six, but was unable to convert his start into a substantial innings. Sooryavanshi has yet to reach the 50-run mark in this series, having scored 14 runs on his debut against Sri Lanka A and 44 runs off 22 balls in the second match against Afghanistan A. Overall, he has accumulated 79 runs across three matches.

Currently, India A has secured one victory out of two matches, having won against Sri Lanka A but lost to Afghanistan A. Following the tri-series, Sooryavanshi is set to travel to Ireland to join the T20I squad.
