Prime Minister Modi Celebrates Women's Skeet Team Achievement

On September 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his congratulations to the Indian women's skeet team for their remarkable achievement of winning a bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. He described this accomplishment as a "proud moment for Indian sports."

The talented trio of Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan secured the bronze in the women's skeet team event, marking India's first-ever medal in this category at the Asian Games.

The Prime Minister's Office took to X to share a message congratulating the athletes, highlighting their dedication, accuracy, and teamwork. The post read, "Congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Maheshwari Chauhan, and Raiza Dhillon on winning the Bronze Medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event. Their focus, precision, and teamwork have brought another proud moment for Indian sports. Best wishes to them for their upcoming endeavours: PM @narendramodi."

The Indian team finished with a total score of 331, with Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal each scoring 111 out of 125, while Maheshwari Chauhan added 109 points to the tally.

China took home the gold medal with a score of 346, and Kazakhstan earned the silver medal.

In addition to the women's success, India also claimed a bronze in the men's skeet team event. The team consisting of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill finished third with a score of 346, winning a shoot-off against Kazakhstan. Naruka also advanced to the men’s skeet individual final.

On another note, Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker reached the final of the women’s 10m air pistol individual event but finished in fifth place, while Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh were unable to qualify.
