A Hero's Welcome for Himanshu Dhillon

Emerging shooting star Himanshu Dhillon, who brought pride to Kaithal and the entire nation by clinching two silver medals in the individual and team 10m Air Rifle events at the Asian Games 2026, received a warm reception in Kaithal on Saturday. His parents, Shamsher Singh and Suman, were also honored and congratulated by the local community.

A special felicitation event took place at the home of Kurukshetra Member of Parliament (MP) Naveen Jindal in Kaithal, where residents gathered to celebrate the champion shooter with traditional drum beats, tilak, and floral garlands.

At just 21 years old, Himanshu secured a silver medal in the men's individual 10m Air Rifle event and another in the men's 10m Air Rifle team event, competing alongside Rudrankksh Patil and Parth Mane. He returned to Kaithal with his medals on Friday evening.

Himanshu hails from Dahola village in the Jind district. His shooting career began in 2018 at the Nehra Shooting Club in Kaithal. To support his passion for shooting, his family relocated to Kaithal in 2020, as his father, Shamsher Singh, works as a regional manager for a fertilizer company in Karnal.

Expressing his joy, Himanshu stated that winning two silver medals for India was a significant achievement, and he aims to secure medals at the World Championships and the Olympics next.

"I am thrilled to have brought home two silver medals for my country. My next goal is to excel at the World Championships and the Olympics," said Himanshu, who is currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Sports at LPU Ludhiana and training at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi.

He expressed his gratitude towards MP Jindal, acknowledging that despite facing financial and technical challenges, his support was pivotal in his sporting journey. MP Jindal congratulated Himanshu and his family.

"MP Naveen Jindal not only provided financial assistance but also offered essential shooting advice, technical support, and unwavering motivation. His experience as an international shooter helped me focus mentally, master match discipline, and manage high-pressure situations," he remarked.

Himanshu's parents, Shamsher Singh and Suman, were overjoyed by their son's accomplishments. "This is a historic moment for us as our son has won two silver medals at the Asian Games," his father expressed.
