Darwin [Australia], August 13: Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud expressed his enthusiasm about competing against Australia, emphasizing his focus on maintaining precise line and length during his remarkable six-wicket haul on the first day of the inaugural Test match in Darwin.

Mahmud achieved a personal best of 6/55, helping to dismiss Australia for a mere 198 runs in 53 overs at Marrara Oval.

At the close of play, Bangladesh stood at 96 for one, with Mominul remaining not out on 35 and Tanzid contributing 32, still trailing by 102 runs.

Shadman Islam was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for 20 runs.

Following the day's play, Mahmud shared his excitement about facing one of the top teams globally, highlighting his commitment to following the captain's guidance and commending his teammates for their contributions.

“Playing against Australia is thrilling because they are among the best teams worldwide. I aimed to keep my deliveries on line and length, adhere to the process, and follow the captain's instructions. My fellow bowlers also performed admirably,” Mahmud stated in a video shared by Fox Cricket.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Australia began steadily at 45/0 but quickly lost wickets. Hasan dismissed Jake Weatherald for 23 and Travis Head for 22, while Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed each took two wickets.

Steve Smith was the standout performer for Australia, scoring 71 runs off 109 balls, including seven fours and a six. However, Hasan returned to dismiss Smith, marking his third five-wicket haul in Test cricket before wrapping up the Australian innings.

Ultimately, Australia was bowled out for 198, marking their lowest Test score against Bangladesh.
