New Delhi, August 4: Harsh Singh, the gold medalist in judo at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026, expressed his joy upon reuniting with his family following his remarkable victory in Glasgow.

The Indian judo team showcased an impressive performance at the CWG 2026, securing a total of four medals, which included a silver, a bronze, and two groundbreaking gold medals won by Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey.

In an interview, Harsh shared his happiness, stating, "It feels wonderful to be back with my family, and they are incredibly proud of my achievement." He clinched India's historic gold in the men's 60 kg judo category, triumphing over Australia's Joshua Katz with a decisive Waza-Ari (10-0) in the final.

Asmita Dey also made headlines by winning gold in the women's 48 kg event, defeating Canada's Heidi Quach in an exhilarating golden score match, marking India's first-ever gold in judo at the Commonwealth Games.

Asmita's journey has been one of perseverance; she previously overcame financial struggles and personal challenges to excel in judo. Now serving as a Sub-Inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police, she has made history with her gold medal win.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games adopted a compact format, which resulted in the exclusion of several major Indian medal-winning sports such as shooting, wrestling, and badminton.

India concluded the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in fourth place on the medals table, amassing a total of 39 medals, which included 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze.

As the Commonwealth Games Flag was ceremonially handed over during a vibrant Closing Ceremony, India officially embarked on its journey to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Amdavad, celebrating the conclusion of Glasgow 2026 while looking forward to the centenary edition of the Games.
