Harmanpreet Kaur Aims for More World Cup Titles After Historic Win
Harmanpreet Kaur's Aspirations Post World Cup Triumph
Indian cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur recently shared her future ambitions following India's historic victory at the 2025 World Cup during her appearance at the 2026 Summit. At 37, she made headlines last year by becoming the first female captain from India to secure an ICC tournament title, leading her team to victory against South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Harmanpreet expressed her desire to win additional trophies before retiring, emphasizing that she does not wish to conclude her career with just one global title. She stated, 'I want to achieve more for our country. Having tasted victory, I understand how much our nation cherishes cricket and celebrates our wins. It's essential for us to aim for more World Cups.' She added, 'I hope to leave behind a legacy of multiple trophies for our country.'
Looking ahead, India's next challenge is the 2026 T20 World Cup, set to occur from June 12 to July 5 in England. The Women in Blue will compete in Group A alongside Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. Harmanpreet noted, 'Playing at home comes with its own pressures and advantages. Every team is formidable these days, and outcomes can be unpredictable. Success hinges on how well you handle pressure on the day of the match. T20 cricket is particularly demanding, as we witnessed in the men's World Cup, where unexpected results occurred. It's all about performing your best when it matters most.'
