Haaland Calls for Improvement Following Leipzig Match

Manchester [UK], November 5: Erling Haaland, the star striker for Manchester City, emphasized the need for his team to enhance their performance after scoring the decisive goal in a thrilling 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

Continuing his impressive form against a former Bundesliga opponent, Haaland netted his 13th goal in just nine encounters with Leipzig. The match was tightly contested, with the score tied at 2-2 before the Norwegian forward found the net.

In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, as reported by ESPN, Haaland expressed that the team must adopt a more aggressive approach. He stated, “I believe we need to elevate our game. When we were ahead 1-0, we should have pushed harder for a second goal and aimed for a third. That’s essential for us as a club, and we need to focus on that.”

Discussing areas for improvement, he added, “We need to work on ball retention, knowing when to hold it and when to advance, and collaborating effectively both offensively and defensively. There’s always room for growth, and with a new game approaching in three days, we have another opportunity.”

Despite having a relatively quiet night with only 13 touches, Haaland expressed his satisfaction in contributing to the team's success. “While my touches were limited, what matters most is that I helped secure the win, and for that, I’m really pleased,” he remarked.

In terms of the match itself, Manchester City initially took the lead thanks to a humorous own goal by Castello Lukeba in the 37th minute. Ridle Baku equalized for Leipzig shortly after halftime, skillfully beating Gianluigi Donnarumma at the near post.

Enzo Fernandez restored City's lead in the 58th minute with a header from an Iliman Ndiaye cross, but just three minutes later, Antonio Nusa leveled the score again with a low shot into the bottom right corner. Ultimately, Haaland's close-range finish in the 78th minute secured the victory for the Premier League side, marking their third win in four matches and placing them seventh in the standings with nine points.
