Guwahati Royals Secure Victory Against Tezpur Titans
In a thrilling encounter at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Saturday, the Guwahati Royals successfully chased down a target of 147 runs, defeating the Tezpur Titans by eight wickets in Match 15 of the Assam Premier League (APL) 2026.
This victory propels the Royals to the second position on the points table, as reported in an official release.
Rohit Sen and Sanjay Kumar Singh were instrumental in the chase, both scoring half-centuries and forming a formidable opening partnership that guided their team to a comfortable win.
Earlier in the match, Mrinmoy Dutta emerged as the standout bowler, claiming three wickets to limit the Titans' scoring after a powerful innings from Wasim Akram Haque.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, the Tezpur Titans struggled initially, losing both Mohammad Kaif and Roshan Topno during the powerplay.
Wasim Akram Haque played a pivotal role, scoring an impressive 82 runs off just 54 balls, which included three fours and seven sixes, marking the second-highest individual score in the tournament to date. He formed an 82-run partnership for the third wicket with Nihar Deka, helping stabilize the innings.
However, the Titans faltered towards the end of their innings after Wasim's dismissal, leading to a collapse. Mrinmoy Dutta struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Danish Ahmed and captain Ayushman Malakar.
