Inauguration of Amdavad Experience Centre

On July 30, Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi officially opened the Amdavad Experience Centre in Glasgow. This initiative is designed to highlight Ahmedabad's sports facilities, cultural richness, and its preparedness to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030.

During the launch, Sanghavi participated in a Garba dance alongside Scottish officials and representatives from the Commonwealth Games, showcasing Gujarat's vibrant cultural heritage to an international audience.

Meetings with British Council

While in Glasgow, Sanghavi also engaged with officials from the British Council to explore opportunities for collaboration in education and cultural exchange, as Gujarat gears up for the centenary Commonwealth Games.

He shared insights from the meeting on social media, stating, “An insightful interaction with the British Council focused on knowledge exchange in education and culture; we discussed best practices to support Gujarat's preparations for hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Looking forward to stronger partnerships ahead.”

Strengthening International Ties

This visit is part of Gujarat's broader strategy to enhance its international presence during the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, aiming to forge stronger connections with global sports organizations as Ahmedabad prepares to host the Games in 2030.

Earlier, Sanghavi addressed the media, explaining that the Amdavad Experience Centre serves as a platform to showcase the city's sports ecosystem and infrastructure to international stakeholders.

India's Success at the Commonwealth Games

The outreach coincided with a successful day for Indian athletes at the Glasgow Games. By the end of Day 7, India had secured a total of 15 medals, including three gold, nine silver, and three bronze.

Notable Indian medallists include Mirabai Chanu (gold in weightlifting), Sharmila Dhankar (gold in women's shot put F57), and Dilip Mahadu Gavit (gold in men's T47 100m), among others.
