Gujarat Titans Claim Top Spot

Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans (GT) have overtaken the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to secure the top position in the IPL 2026 points table. The Titans achieved a significant 82-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 56th match of the season. With 8 wins and 4 losses from 12 matches, GT now holds the top spot with 16 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.551. Meanwhile, RCB has slipped to second place, having recorded 7 wins and 4 losses in 11 matches, accumulating 14 points with an NRR of +1.103. RCB had previously claimed the top position after defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI). SRH has also dropped to third place, with 7 wins in 12 matches and 14 points at an NRR of +0.331. A victory against GT would have propelled SRH to the top of the table.

After the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins praised the GT bowlers, stating, 'They bowled really well. I felt pretty satisfied when we left the field. It was a tricky wicket, and they executed their bowling effectively. We could have adjusted our lengths better, but that was an impressive T20 bowling performance. Our batting has been strong, so I’m not overly concerned about this match. Such things happen in T20 cricket.'

Current IPL 2026 Points Table

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) remain in fourth place with 6 wins from 11 games. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are at the bottom of the table and have already been eliminated from the tournament, along with the ninth-placed Mumbai Indians (MI). The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently in eighth place, while the Delhi Capitals, with 5 wins in 12 matches, still have a slim chance of reaching the playoffs.
