ODI World Cup 2027 In Sight For Kirsten

Kirsten amassed a remarkable total of 14,087 runs in both Test and One Day International formats, achieving 21 Test centuries and 13 ODI centuries during his decade-long career from 1993 to 2004. His contract with Sri Lanka is set for two years, concluding on April 14, 2028. Kirsten's main objective will be to revitalize the ODI team and prepare them for success in the ICC ODI World Cup 2027, which will take place in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. In addition to his national team coaching roles, Gary Kirsten has also contributed to the IPL, working with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, where he was the batting coach during the Titans' championship-winning debut season in 2022. Sri Lanka cricket has experienced a gradual decline in performance across formats over the past two years. Although the team possesses talent, they often struggle under pressure and fail to perform at their best. Kirsten is recognized for his ability to maximize player potential, and he may be the key to restoring Sri Lanka's cricketing prowess.
