G Kamalini and Kiran Navgire Shine at WPL 2027 Mini Auction
Exciting Developments from the WPL 2027 Mini Auction
Kochi (Keralam) [India], October 28: In a thrilling session at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction, young Indian batter G Kamalini was acquired by Gujarat Giants for ₹40 lakh, while Kiran Navgire was signed by Delhi Capitals for ₹75 lakh.
Kamalini, despite a modest performance record in the WPL, has shown her prowess as a consistent scorer for India A and Tamil Nadu in domestic competitions. Gujarat Giants initiated the bidding at ₹40 lakh, and with no other teams contesting, they successfully secured her at her base price.
Navgire, who previously played for UP Warriorz, saw an opening bid of ₹40 lakh from Mumbai Indians. However, as Delhi Capitals entered the fray, the bidding intensified, pushing her price to ₹70 lakh before Delhi Capitals ultimately secured her for ₹75 lakh, marking their first acquisition of the auction.
Several players, however, went unsold during this auction. Raghvi Bist, who has played two T20 Internationals, was the first player to be auctioned but did not attract any bids despite her base price of ₹30 lakh.
Ayushi Soni, who set her base price at ₹30 lakh, also went unsold after appearing in one T20 International and one WPL match in 2025. England's Sophia Dunkley, who played for Gujarat Giants in the inaugural season, failed to find a buyer at her base price of ₹50 lakh after participating in six matches previously.
Maharashtra batter Tejal Hasabnis, known for her explosive batting and contributions in the middle order, also went unsold. She is part of India’s ODI squad for the ongoing series against Zimbabwe and has impressed in her opportunities with the senior team.
The WPL 2027 mini-auction aims to bolster team rosters ahead of the upcoming season, with 146 players available and 27 slots open across five teams. Players like G Kamalini, Sneh Rana, and Sushma Verma, along with Australian talents Grace Harris, Jess Jonassen, and Sophie Molineux, are expected to draw significant interest.
