Finn Allen Sets Record for Fastest Century in IPL History
Historic Achievement by Finn Allen
On May 8, New Zealand's Finn Allen made headlines by scoring the quickest century in Indian Premier League (IPL) history while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). During a match against the Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Allen reached the century mark in just 47 balls. This remarkable feat occurred on the second delivery of the 15th over bowled by Mukesh Kumar, where he hit his 10th six of the innings, bringing his score to 100. Allen was acquired by KKR for Rs 2 crore during the IPL 2026 auction.
Previously, the record for KKR's fastest century was held by Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine, both of whom achieved the milestone in 49 balls. Iyer's record was set on April 16, 2023, against the Mumbai Indians, while Narine matched it in 2024 against the Rajasthan Royals. The list of fastest centuries for KKR now includes:
Fastest Centuries for KKR
- Finn Allen - 47 balls vs DC (2026)
- Venkatesh Iyer - 49 balls vs MI (2023)
- Sunil Narine - 49 balls vs RR (2024)

Chris Gayle holds the overall record for the fastest century in IPL history, scoring 100 runs in just 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India on April 23, 2013.
In the same match, Allen partnered with Cameron Green to score 116 runs off 64 balls for the third wicket, leading KKR to successfully chase down the target of 143 runs in just 14.2 overs, winning by 8 wickets. This victory marked KKR's fourth consecutive win in IPL 2026, placing them seventh in the standings with nine points from ten matches.
