New Delhi, Oct 13: FIFA's president, Gianni Infantino, is facing allegations of violating FIFA regulations following reports of an additional pay package amounting to £1.3 million, which is on top of his officially declared earnings of £4 million.
A report from a British newspaper indicates that this extra compensation originated from a FIFA subsidiary created to manage the upcoming World Cup in the United States.
Documents from the US Internal Revenue Service reveal that FWC2026 US Inc paid Infantino $1.76 million (£1.3 million), a figure that was not disclosed in FIFA's 2024 annual report, which stated his earnings as 4.27 million Swiss francs (£3.88 million).
This undisclosed payment is said to violate FIFA's own regulations, which mandate that the compensation of the FIFA president must be publicly disclosed.
According to another British publication, Infantino has been receiving substantial undisclosed payments, which he allegedly used to support a lavish lifestyle in Miami.
Former FIFA governance committee head Miguel Maduro commented that the lack of transparency regarding these payments constitutes a breach of FIFA's regulations. He emphasized that if Infantino is receiving additional payments from FIFA-related companies that are not disclosed, it is a clear violation of the rules, calling for an investigation. The FIFA statutes require complete transparency, and it is inappropriate for the compensation sub-committee to approve other forms of payment.
The $1.76 million payment for 2024 included $626,229 categorized as 'other reportable compensation' alongside his base salary and bonuses. Reports suggest that Infantino received similar or even larger amounts in 2025 and 2026.
This revelation comes as Infantino is already under scrutiny during a FIFA Council meeting scheduled for Thursday in Zurich, where council members will review various controversies surrounding his leadership over the past year.
