Mumbai, May 7: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed that the fourth season of the T20 Mumbai League, along with the first-ever T20 Mumbai Women’s League, will take place from June 1 to June 13 at the renowned Wankhede Stadium.
Both men's and women's tournaments will occur concurrently, marking a pivotal moment in the MCA's initiative to establish a prominent platform for cricketing talent across various categories.
The men's league will showcase renowned cricket stars alongside the city's emerging talents, featuring players like Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Tushar Deshpande, Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Musheer Khan, Suryansh Shedge, and Abhigyan Kundu, among others.
In its inaugural season, the women's league will also highlight prominent players and promising young talents from the domestic scene, including Sayali Satghare, Saima Thakor, Humaira Kazi, and the teenage batting prodigy Ira Jadhav, who was the highest bid at the auction, along with Sanika Chalke and Simran Shaikh.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik stated, “The T20 Mumbai League has been crucial in enhancing Mumbai’s cricketing landscape and offering opportunities for emerging players to compete alongside some of the sport's biggest names. Hosting both tournaments at the Wankhede Stadium underscores the MCA’s dedication to fostering a broader and more inclusive platform for talent development, aiming to elevate Mumbai cricket to a larger audience.”
Rajdip Gupta, Chairman of the League Governing Council, remarked, “Playing at the iconic Wankhede Stadium will be a significant milestone for many young cricketers and a vital stepping stone in their development. With live broadcasts on Star Sports and streaming on JioHotstar, players will receive invaluable exposure to a nationwide audience, while fans can anticipate an exhilarating and high-quality cricket experience throughout the tournament.”
