From December 4 to 21, eight teams will compete for the final four spots in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2027. This round-robin playoff will take place in Nepal, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The opening match will feature the host nation, Nepal, facing Italy at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, while Namibia will go up against Uganda at the Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Participating Teams

In addition to Nepal, Italy, Namibia, and Uganda, the playoff includes Canada, Kuwait, Jersey, and the United Arab Emirates, all vying for a place in the 10-team Global Qualifier that will finalize the four spots for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027.

Significance of the Qualifier Playoff

Gaurav Saxena, the ICC's General Manager for Events and Operations, emphasized the importance of this playoff stage in the journey towards the World Cup. He expressed confidence that all participating teams will strive to make the most of this opportunity.

Saxena noted that associate cricket plays a crucial role in the sport's global development, providing teams with essential chances to demonstrate their skills and enhance their performance levels.

Qualified Teams and Future Prospects

Ireland and the West Indies have already secured their spots in the Global Qualifier as the top-ranked teams outside the eight automatic qualifiers, excluding the Full Member hosts, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
