Taunton, June 3: In a remarkable display of batting, Alice Capsey and Heather Knight's partnership propelled England to a six-wicket victory over India in the final T20I, securing the series 2-1 ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup set to begin on June 12.

The duo forged a formidable 137-run partnership, turning the tide after a shaky start in their chase of 181 runs, completing it in just 18.3 overs.

Capsey led the charge with an explosive 82 runs off 43 balls, while Knight contributed an impressive 70 runs from 42 deliveries, marking England's highest T20I chase since 2018.

England faced early setbacks, losing both openers within the first three overs, with Kranti Goud dismissing Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Arundhati Reddy taking out Sophia Dunkley shortly after.

Goud struck again in the final over of the Powerplay, leaving England at 53/3. However, Capsey's aggressive batting began to dismantle the Indian bowling attack, complemented by Knight's steady scoring.

Capsey reached her half-century in just 26 balls, while Knight also accelerated her scoring with two boundaries off Nandni Sharma.

Capsey's explosive hitting included a four and two consecutive sixes against Shree Charani, reducing the target to just 28 runs with five overs remaining.

Despite being dismissed for 82, England was well on track for victory, with Knight sealing the win with a boundary in the penultimate over.

Earlier, India batted first and, despite losing early wickets, managed to post a total of 180 runs. Shafali Verma fell for 11 runs, and Smriti Mandhana was dismissed lbw by Charlie Dean.

Yastika Bhatia, who had been in fine form throughout the series, scored quickly with seven boundaries, pushing India to 57 runs before her unfortunate run-out.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur attempted to stabilize the innings, but England struck again with Lauren Bell's clever slow ball that bowled Rodrigues out.

Harmanpreet eventually found her rhythm, scoring a fifty, but India could only manage 48 runs in the last five overs.

Final scores: England Women 184/4 in 18.3 overs (Alice Capsey 82, Heather Knight 70*; Arundhati Reddy 2-31) defeated India 180/5 in 20 overs (Harmanpreet Kaur 56*, Yastika Bhatia 32; Lauren Bell 2-36) by 6 wickets.
