On March 29, during the IPL 2026 match against KKR, the Mumbai Indians introduced Allah Ghazanfar as a debutant before the toss. Ghazanfar, a promising 20-year-old off-spinner hailing from Paktia, Afghanistan, has garnered attention as one of the country's most thrilling cricket prospects. Initially, he began his career as a fast bowler but later transitioned to spin bowling.

Throughout his relatively short career, Ghazanfar has participated in various franchise leagues, representing teams such as the Colombo Strikers, Afghanistan A, Team Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, MI Emirates, Derbyshire, and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, among others.

Prior to the season's commencement, he made headlines by appealing for international support following a tragic attack on a significant rehabilitation center in Kabul. Ghazanfar highlighted the severe impact of war on civilians, particularly in light of the recent targeting of a hospital during the ongoing conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He described the rehabilitation facility as a crucial place for many individuals seeking both physical and mental recovery, emphasizing its importance for those unable to afford medical treatment. Ghazanfar expressed his confusion regarding the motives behind such attacks, stating, “I don’t know what they’re trying to prove. They come and target ordinary people, and we simply cannot accept this. Afghanistan cannot accept this.”

Referring to India as a ‘close friend,’ he expressed a desire for dialogue on these pressing issues, stating, “We want to engage with them, to talk about these issues, so that things like this don’t happen. This is our request to other countries too. This is not good for the people. Right now, the world is going through many challenges, and this is not good for anyone.”
