East Bengal FC Maintains Unbeaten Streak
Kolkata (West Bengal) - On May 4, East Bengal FC showcased their strength in the Indian Women's League 2025-26 by securing another victory on Sunday. SETHU FC and Kickstart FC Karnataka also claimed three points each, while Nita Football Academy ended in a draw against Garhwal United FC.
In their match, East Bengal FC defeated Gokulam Kerala FC with a score of 2-1 at the East Bengal Ground. The hosts struck early in the sixth minute when Fazila Ikwaput skillfully volleyed a long ball over the advancing goalkeeper from outside the box.
East Bengal dominated possession throughout the first half, controlling the game's pace, while Gokulam Kerala struggled to create scoring opportunities before halftime.
The second goal for East Bengal came in the 65th minute when Resty Nanziri assisted Ikwaput, who finished accurately into the bottom corner. Gokulam managed to score in the 70th minute after a corner kick, with Shubhangi Singh capitalizing on a mistake by East Bengal's goalkeeper Elangbam Chanu. Despite late attempts from both teams, East Bengal secured the win.
Currently, the Moshal Girls lead the table with 27 points, while Gokulam Kerala FC sits in fifth place with 10 points.
SETHU FC Claims Victory Over Sribhumi FC
SETHU FC also enjoyed success, defeating Sribhumi FC 2-1 at the East Bengal Ground earlier in the day. The match began with a goal from Sumati Kumari in the 12th minute, who headed in a long ball delivered by Nirmala Devi.
Despite efforts from Sribhumi to equalize, they faced a solid SETHU defense. The lead was extended when S Lynda Kom capitalized on a rebound after Kumari's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Sribhumi FC managed to reduce the deficit in the 37th minute when Philomena Abakah converted a penalty after a foul in the box. Both teams had opportunities in the second half, but the score remained unchanged, allowing SETHU to hold on for the win.
With this victory, SETHU FC is now second in the standings with 19 points from nine matches, while Sribhumi FC is fourth with 10 points.
Kickstart FC Karnataka Secures Dominant Win
In another match, Kickstart FC Karnataka achieved a convincing 3-0 victory against SESA Football Academy at the AIFF National Centre of Excellence. The scoring began in the 16th minute when Emem Peace Essien finished from close range after a cross from Kiran Pisda.
The lead was doubled in the 27th minute when Saru Limbu scored after being set up by Pisda. In the 66th minute, a foul on Essien inside the box led to a penalty, which Babysana Devi successfully converted, sealing the match.
This win elevates Kickstart FC to sixth place with 10 points from nine matches, while SESA Football Academy remains at the bottom with just one point.
Nita Football Academy and Garhwal United FC Share Points
In a goalless draw, Nita Football Academy faced Garhwal United FC at the AIFF National Centre of Excellence. Both teams struggled to find the net, resulting in a stalemate.
Nita FA holds third place in the table with 15 points, while Garhwal United FC is seventh with eight points.
