Durban's Super Giants Unveil New Identity Ahead of 2027 SA20 Season
A Fresh Look for Durban's Super Giants
Durban, South Africa - On September 24, the SA20 franchise Durban's Super Giants (DSG) revealed a new identity, featuring an updated logo and a vibrant color scheme of red, blue, and gold, marking an exciting new chapter as they prepare for the 2027 season.
Since its inception in the SA20 league, DSG has aimed to create more than just a competitive cricket team; it seeks to embody the spirit of Durban, showcasing the city's energy, diversity, and love for sports. This new branding aligns with that vision, as stated in their press release.
The color red symbolizes the team's passion and energy, blue signifies strength and confidence, while gold reflects ambition and the quest for excellence. This refreshed identity will be visible across all DSG merchandise, playing and training kits, digital platforms, and fan experiences as the new SA20 season approaches.
This evolution also strengthens the connection between Durban's Super Giants and its counterparts, Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Manchester Super Giants in The Hundred, fostering a more recognizable Super Giants brand across prominent cricket markets worldwide.
Despite sharing a visual identity, each franchise will maintain its unique cultural roots and local support. For DSG, this means developing a global brand that remains deeply connected to Durban.
Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman of RPSG Group, expressed that the new identity captures the essence of Durban's vibrant energy and sporting enthusiasm, reflecting the franchise's ambition to excel while fostering a team that the city can take pride in.
“Durban is a city filled with remarkable energy and warmth. We aspire for Durban's Super Giants to embody that spirit and create something truly commendable for the city. This new identity signifies our aspirations for DSG, aiming for the highest levels of competition while crafting unforgettable experiences for our fans,” he stated.
Shashwat Goenka, Vice Chairman of RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, added, “With Super Giants now represented in three prominent cricketing cities across different countries, we have a unique opportunity to cultivate a robust global sports brand while ensuring each team remains closely tied to its roots. For DSG, maintaining that balance is crucial. Our identity may be new and our ambitions global, but our heart will always belong to Durban.”
Durban's Super Giants have quickly made a significant impact in the SA20, having reached the finals in Season 2 and garnering a dedicated fanbase at their home ground, Kingsmead.
