Dhiraj Bommadevara etched his name in history by clinching the men's individual title at the Archery World Cup Final 2026 in Saltillo, Mexico, becoming the first Indian male archer to win an individual gold at this season-ending event, as reported by Olympics.com.

The 25-year-old athlete triumphed over Japan's Nakanishi Junya with a score of 6-5 in a nail-biting gold medal match that culminated in a shoot-off. Dhiraj maintained his composure under pressure, scoring a 10 in the decisive attempt, surpassing Nakanishi's nine to secure the most significant individual title of his career.

With this victory, Dhiraj joins the ranks of only the second Indian archer to win an individual title at the Archery World Cup Final, following Dola Banerjee, who claimed the women's recurve title in Dubai back in 2007.
