In a recent statement, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her admiration for India's outstanding performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, where the nation achieved a remarkable total of 39 medals. She also commended the country's achievements at the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships, which took place in the capital and concluded earlier this month.

India's Medal Tally at CWG 2026

At the Commonwealth Games, India finished in fourth place, amassing 39 medals, which included 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze. Notably, para athletes contributed significantly to this tally, securing 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals, marking a historic achievement for Indian para athletics at the Games after a 20-year wait.

Dominance in Table Tennis

Indian competitors showcased their prowess at the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships, dominating various events and bringing home numerous medals.

CM Gupta's Remarks on Youth Potential

During the inauguration of the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation's first STEM Lab at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Pitampura, CM Gupta highlighted India's strong showing at the Commonwealth Games. She emphasized the potential of the youth in the country, stating that with adequate opportunities and facilities, young Indians can excel on global platforms.

She remarked, "The achievements at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games reflect our nation's capabilities. If our youth are provided with the right resources, they can reach remarkable heights."

Gupta also praised the organization of the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships in Delhi, noting that Indian athletes won approximately 80% of the available medals. She congratulated the organizers for their efforts in hosting such a significant event.

Launch of STEM Lab Initiative

The Shikhar Dhawan Foundation's STEM Lab was launched in collaboration with the Government of NCT of Delhi and supported by Human Mobile Devices (HMD) through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Senior representatives from Da One Group were also present at the launch.
