Sharma's Remarkable Performance

In Wellington, New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell, a batter for the home team, expressed admiration for Abhishek Sharma's extraordinary hitting after the Indian opener delivered a spectacular 35-ball century. This performance was pivotal in leading India to a commanding victory, with Mitchell noting that it was a night to remember.

Sharma's innings of 113 runs off just 38 balls featured an impressive 11 sixes and nine fours, enabling India to chase down New Zealand's target of 199 runs in a mere 13.2 overs, finishing with 40 balls to spare. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also made a significant contribution, scoring 45 runs from 19 balls, helping India secure a 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

During the post-match press conference, Mitchell acknowledged Sharma's outstanding display, revealing that New Zealand had attempted various strategies to limit the impact of both Indian batters but ultimately failed to contain their aggressive play.

"That was a very special innings. Some of the hitting was world-class, which is why he is regarded as one of the best in the game. You have to tip your hat and commend him—tonight was definitely his night, and it’s one that will be remembered for a long time," Mitchell remarked.

Mitchell also highlighted the performance of 15-year-old Sooryavanshi, who partnered with Sharma during India's explosive start. The pair managed to score 118 runs without losing a wicket by the end of the Powerplay, forming a formidable 133-run opening partnership.

"He played exceptionally well, clearly benefiting from Abhishek's form. It was a fantastic Powerplay. We tried several different tactics to slow them down, but tonight just wasn’t our night," Mitchell added.

With New Zealand now trailing 0-3 in the series, Mitchell mentioned the team's intention to regroup for the upcoming matches and expressed his excitement about playing at Eden Park, a venue he described as a source of pride for New Zealanders.

The fourth T20I is set to take place in Auckland on Friday.

"Playing for your country is always special. Heading to Eden Park is particularly meaningful for us as New Zealanders, given the history of great cricket matches held there, as well as the All Blacks' successes. We look forward to representing our country with pride and giving it our all," he concluded.
